Treatment Options

Braces and Clear Aligners for All Ages in South Lyon

The way we see it, having options is always a good thing. Whether you choose an option of traditional braces with bold, fun colors, Invisalign treatment or any combination of options, your treatment will be custom-tailored to you. Dr. Reynolds stresses that any orthodontic treatment is made of an important partnership between you (or your child) and our team. With a great plan and teamwork, together we will achieve that smile you have always wanted!

As an orthodontist and a mother, Dr. Ashley Reynolds believes in the philosophy of achieving the most efficient orthodontic treatment in the most conservative manner. This makes for a WIN-WIN strategy for our patients, parents, Dr. Reynolds and the entire Crescent Team!

At Crescent Orthodontics, our priority isn’t to get you INTO treatment, we want to get you OUT of treatment with the best result – in the least amount of time!

Early Diagnosis

Though orthodontics can enhance a smile at any age, the American Association of Orthodontics suggests that children be evaluated by the age of 7. At that age, we can determine if treatment will be needed, as well as the best time for treatment. If waiting for treatment is recommended, Dr. Reynolds will see your child once or twice a year to monitor their growth and assess their needs. We feel that early diagnosis is so important that we offer these growth and guidance appointments free of charge to you.

Options for Adolescents

If your child is between the ages of 11 and 15, they probably expect to get braces since so many of their friends have them. By age 12, most if not all of the permanent teeth are usually in place, and crowded teeth, gaps and bad bites are highly visible. Starting treatment at this time helps us take advantage of the child’s remaining growth to make the necessary orthodontic corrections. Also just as important to your child, it can help them gain confidence socially during these important formative years. We strive to make our office fun- stop in on a school day after 2:30-3pm and it almost feels like an after-school program with kids hanging out with their friends.

Options for Teens & Adults

At your first complimentary consultation with Dr. Reynolds, she will discuss your treatment options and the pros and cons of each as it relates specifically to YOUR teeth and case. Whether you choose metal braces, clear braces or Invisalign® at Crescent Orthodontics, you will have the benefit of Customized Smile Design. Like fingerprints, your smile is unique – and so is our approach. We combine digital orthodontic treatment planning with our years of experience to provide you or your child this level of personalized care.

Most kids choose traditional braces with bright colored elastics that match their personal style or school colors. Others may choose to take advantage of one of our more invisible options, like Invisalign® Teen or tooth-colored braces.

The Invisalign® System straightens your teeth without wires and brackets, using a series of clear, customized, removable aligners. It’s virtually invisible, which means you can straighten your teeth without announcing it to the world. Invisalign® moves your teeth in small steps to the desired final position. Each of your aligners is precisely customized to fit your mouth at each stage of the treatment plan. You switch to a new set of aligners every week and only remove them to eat, brush and floss.

At your complimentary consultation at Crescent Orthodontics, you can ask Dr. Reynolds if Invisalign® is a good option for you and your specific orthodontic needs.
